Continuing a Legacy of Adventure with Lyte Ladders

Lyte Ladders • Oct 03, 2024

At Lyte Ladders, our history is deeply intertwined with some of the greatest adventures in human history. Our ladders played a crucial role in Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay’s historic ascent of Mount Everest in 1953, helping them cross the treacherous Khumbu Icefall. Before setting off on their legendary journey, they trained in Eryri (Snowdonia), where they honed the skills needed for their successful expedition.

Today, we’re proud to continue this legacy of adventure and exploration by supporting the Mountain Adventure Fund at Plas y Brenin. Our recent donation will sponsor a full class of children, giving them the chance to experience the same rugged landscapes and challenges that once prepared Hillary and Tenzing for their momentous climb.

Through the Mountain Adventure Fund, these young adventurers will embark on a journey that builds confidence, resilience, and a love for the outdoors. By sponsoring their week-long adventure, we’re not only honouring our history but also investing in the future of outdoor exploration.

Lyte Ladders remains committed to supporting initiatives that inspire and empower the next generation. By contributing to the Mountain Adventure Fund, we’re helping ensure that children from all backgrounds have the opportunity to explore, learn, and grow in the great outdoors — just as the pioneers of Everest once did.

Carbon Footprints – Real Impact of UK-Made vs. Imported Products
By Lyte Ladders 04 Nov, 2024
Choosing Lyte Ladders means choosing a lower carbon footprint. Our UK-made products save on the emissions generated by long-distance shipping from the Far East. It’s a win for quality and the environment! Imported ladders typically travel thousands of miles before reaching the UK, generating substantial carbon emissions. In contrast, our ladders are manufactured locally, drastically reducing the emissions associated with transportation. This not only supports our commitment to sustainability but also ensures that our products are of the highest quality and reliability. Let's take a deeper dive into the real environmental impact of these products, looking beyond just transportation emissions. By analysing the broader lifecycle of products — from raw material extraction to disposal — we can fully understand the carbon footprint of imported versus locally manufactured goods.

In a world where sustainability is becoming increasingly important, the concept of repairable products is gaining momentum. At Lyte Ladders, we are proud to offer a range of products that can be repaired, extending their lifespan and significantly reducing their environmental impact. By choosing products that can be repaired rather than replaced, you help reduce waste, conserve resources, and minimise your carbon footprint. Benefits of Repairable Products Extended Product Lifespan: Repairable products are designed with durability in mind. When a part wears out or breaks, it can be replaced, allowing the product to continue serving its purpose for many more years. This not only saves you money but also reduces the demand for new products, which in turn conserves resources and energy. Reduced Waste: By repairing products instead of discarding them, we significantly reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills. This is crucial for reducing environmental pollution and conserving landfill space, which is becoming increasingly scarce. Lower Carbon Footprint: Manufacturing new products typically involves high energy consumption and carbon emissions. By extending the life of a product through repair, you reduce the need for new manufacturing, thereby lowering your overall carbon footprint. Lyte Ladders’ Commitment to Repairability At Lyte Ladders, we believe in the importance of sustainability, which is why we offer a wide range of repairable products.
